The final concert of Rêverie is performed by the exceptional talents of the Scottish Opera orchestra and soloists. It opens with the world premiere performance of a specially commissioned piece for the occasion by resident composer Sam Bordoli. It is a new setting of a selection of writings from Belgian Nobel Laureate Maurice Maeterlinck’s mystical essays Le Trésor des Humbles.
In a nod to Aberdeen’s forgotten diva Mary Garden, who performed in the original production, there is special performance of the orchestral suite based on Debussy’s operatic masterpiece Pelleas and Melisande. As well as looking back at one of the greats, this concert showcases two of opera’s most exciting talents in Scottish Opera’s emerging artists Lucy Anderson and Bethan Langford.
