Kia Abdullah

Kia Abdullah is a bestselling author and travel writer. Her novels include Take It Back, a Guardian and Telegraph thriller of the year; Truth Be Told, which was shortlisted for the Diverse Book Awards; and Next of Kin, which was longlisted for the CWA Gold Dagger Award and won the Diverse Book Awards in 2022. Kia has also been selected for The Times Crime Club.

Kia has written for The New York Times, the Guardian, the Financial Times, The Times and the BBC, and is the founder of Asian Booklist, a non-profit that advocates for diversity in publishing and helps readers discover new books by British Asian authors.

Sofia Slater

Sofia Slater was raised in the American West, and lived in France, Scotland, and Oxford before settling in London. She holds degrees in philosophy and languages from Smith College and UCL. As well as writing fiction, she translates from French and Spanish. Auld Acquaintance is her first novel.

Alex Clark

Alex Clark is a critic, journalist and broadcaster. A co-host of Graham Norton’s Book Club, she is also a regular on Radio 4 and writes on a wide range of subjects for the Guardian, the Observer, the Irish Times and the Times Literary Supplement. She is a patron of the Cambridge Literary Festival, and has judged many literary awards, including the Booker prize. She is an experienced chair of live events, and lives in Kilkenny.

Catriona Yule

Catriona Yule is an Aberdeen poet, short story writer and playwright who works as an English tutor. Her work has been published in Northwords Now, Pushing Out the Boat, The Eildon Tree and Causeway. She lives with her writer-husband, Richie Brown, and their two cats, Frank and Tilly. They all enjoy a bit of jazz music but Frank is particularly fond of James Yorkston.
