Overview

Wonder Hoose Local Music Night: Jamie McCormick and Madam Tsunami

Jamie McCormick is a queer musician and creative from Aberdeenshire. With an emphasis on mental health, gender and queerness, their work ranges from serious and soul searching to self-deprecating and satirical, but with a constant underlying theme of great hair. Pre-pandemic they were seen all over Scotland on stage at music festivals, Pride events & Edinburgh drag clubs.  Jamie’s performances involve elaborate costuming, not so elaborate choreography, and a healthy dose of humour.

Madam Tsunami are Adam and Coralie Usmani, a folk pop duo originally from New Zealand and now settled in Aberdeen, Scotland. They released ‘Long Way from Home’, their second full length album in March of 2017 to mark their move to Scotland from Auckland. Touching on themes of nostalgia, growing older and a yearning for home, this fine collection of songs is flavoured with the musical language of Scotland and delivered with a decidedly Kiwi accent! Adam and Coralie met when she was performing classically learnt bluegrass tunes at the Auckland Bluegrass Club. Together they went on an adventure of musical projects, including fronting an 8 piece dance/house/jazz band, independently producing a televised rock band competition and masquerading as the local Irish band every year on St Patrick’s Day.
