Light The Blue 2023: Young Advisors Call-Out

Are you aged 14-18 and based in/around Aberdeen? Interested in theatre, dance, music, film, art or another creative activity? 

We’re looking for a group of Young Advisors to help shape Light The Blue 2023 – our multi-artform festival for and by young people. 

Light The Blue is Aberdeen Performing Arts’ annual youth arts festival celebrating the creativity of those aged 5-25 across Aberdeen and the North East. We want young people to have a voice at the decision-making table, helping us to create a festival that’s relevant and exciting them and their peers. 

Our group of Young Advisors will meet for a series of sessions to offer their ideas whilst getting behind the scenes insight from a professional team on making an arts festival. Developing new skills across programming, producing, marketing and more, the group will play an active role in bringing Light The Blue 2023 to life. 

Are you:   

• Aged 14 – 18? 
• Living in/around Aberdeen? 
• Interested in the arts? 

If so, we want to hear from you. You don’t need to attend a group to get involved – all that we ask is that you’re excited by the idea of sharing your ideas and learning new skills. 

Dates & Details 

Our Young Advisors group will meet on the following dates: 

• Wednesday 8th  March 2023, 4.15 – 6.15pm 
• Wednesday 29th March 2023, 4.15 – 6.15pm 
• Wednesday 31st May 2023, 4.15 – 6.15pm 
• Wednesday 7th June 2023, 4.15 – 6.15pm 

All sessions will take place in Aberdeen City Centre – either at the Music Hall, Union Street; His Majesty’s Theatre, Rosemount Viaduct; or The Lemon Tree, West North Street. 

Sessions will be facilitated by a professional team of facilitators. You must be able to attend at least 2 sessions, but we would ideally like Young Advisors to commit to all 4 dates.  

There will be an opportunity for our Young Advisors to support us across Light The Blue 2023 festival week – 10th – 18th June – more information will be available nearer the time. 

If you’re interested in joining our Young Advisors group for Light The Blue 2023, complete a short online form via https://forms.office.com/e/TAsqyxtGSX by Monday 6 March at 5pm. 

The form asks a few questions about your interests and why you would like to be one of our Young Advisors. Under 16s will be required to provide contact details for a parent or guardian via the form.
