Call-Out: Light The Blue 2024 - Young Advisors

Light The Blue 2024

Young Advisors Call-Out

Are you aged 14-19 and based in and around Aberdeen? Interested in theatre, dance, music, film, art or another creative activity?

We’re looking for a group of Young Advisors to take part in a unique project, bringing their ideas and enthusiasm to help us bring 2024’s Light The Blue festival to life. We want young people to have a voice at the decision-making table, helping us to create a festival that’s relevant and exciting to them and their peers.

Light The Blue is Aberdeen Performing Arts’ annual multi-artform festival for and by young people, celebrating the creativity of those aged 3-25 across Aberdeen and the North East. With a programme of theatre, dance, music, visual arts, film and more we want Light The Blue to offer every young person across the region an opportunity to be inspired and creative.

Our group of Young Advisors will meet for a series of sessions to offer their ideas whilst getting behind the scenes insight from a professional team on making an arts festival. Developing new skills across programming, producing, marketing and more, the group will play an active role in bringing Light The Blue 2024 to life.

Across the project our Young Advisors will:

  • Offer feedback and ideas on our draft festival programme
  • Take responsibility for programming and running an event at Light The Blue
  • Learn about and feed into the marketing campaign for the festival
  • Shadow and support our Front of House and Technical Teams during the festival
  • Gain insight into how a large, multi-venue arts organisation operates and find out about various career paths within the arts industry

Who are we looking for?

We’re looking for young people aged 14 – 19 who live in/around Aberdeen and who have an interest in the arts. You don’t need to attend a group or be a performer to get involved – all that we ask is that you’re excited about sharing your ideas and learning new skills.
