Call-Out: Production Pathways Event

Production Pathways Event

Call-Out for Young People

On Tuesday 4th June 2024, Aberdeen Performing Arts, North East Scotland College, Aberdeen Archives, Gallery and Museums and the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland are partnering to offer the opportunity for young people in Aberdeen to find out more about career pathways backstage in technical theatre and the production arts.

Who is it for?

The free event, run as part of Light The Blue 2024, is for S4-6 school pupils in and around Aberdeen from disadvantaged backgrounds, primarily targeted at those who are from SIMD1 postcodes or who are care experienced/caregivers or estranged.

We’re asking teachers to identify individuals or groups (of up to 10) who have a genuine interest in gaining more insight into production pathways. Individuals can submit an expression of interest themselves, or teachers can apply on behalf of a group. We will offer places initially to those who meet the above criteria (or groups in which at least 50% of pupils meet the criteria) and will operate a waiting list for others.

What will happen on the day?

Attendees will get a backstage tour of His Majesty’s Theatre and visit Aberdeen Art Gallery, with an opportunity to try out technical theatre equipment as well as find out how set and costume for a show is designed. Those offered places will attend either a morning or afternoon session, to be determined by school timetables.

How do I find out more?

To find out more and submit an expression of interest, visit https://forms.office.com/e/Zc470DHKhe and apply by Thursday 7th March at 10am.

Please feel free to share the above link and information with individuals and colleagues. If you have any questions, please contact jordan.blackwood@aberdeenperformingarts.com.
