Takeover Headliners Call-out

Aged 14-19 and part of a band in Aberdeen or shire? Fancy playing on the Music Hall stage? 

We’re looking for local rock, pop, indie or funk bands to headline our Takeover event at the Music Hall and celebrate the end of Light the Blue 2024. This is an exciting, free opportunity for young musicians of secondary school age to perform on the main stage of an iconic local venue with support from our technical team and professional sound system. 

This project is aimed at independent young bands from Aberdeen and Shire. You may have formed your group at school or elsewhere, and may have experience performing at your local hall, school or friends’ birthday parties. We are looking for submissions from bands themselves, rather than schools.  

The event will round up our teenage-focused Takeover Day and will take place on the evening of Saturday 15th June at the Music Hall Union Street, Aberdeen, AB10 1QS. Each band will get a slot to soundcheck and can perform a set of 15-30 minutes. We can accommodate bands with a maximum of 5 musicians and will provide a backline consisting of 1 guitar amp, 1 bass amp, 1 drumkit, 1 keyboard, speakers, monitors, mics and stands. 

We anticipate offering a place to up to 6 bands. Should interest exceed this number, our Young Advisors will review submissions and select bands that make up an exciting and diverse line-up.
