His Majesty’s Theatre Backstage Tours
Light The Blue 2024
Fancy offering your students a peek behind the scenes at His Majesty’s Theatre?
We’re offering free backstage tours to schools groups as part of Light the Blue 2024, guiding pupils around our 116-year-old Edwardian theatre designed by the legendary architect Frank Matcham.
Providing an opportunity to explore new and old sections of the building, step on stage to see His Majesty’s from the eyes of a performer and get an insight into the technical aspects of a working theatre, these tours have been specially adapted for schools groups.
Our schools tours will last 60 minutes and are initially being offered to S3-6 secondary school classes of around 20 pupils at a time, accompanied by staff/teachers.
Tours will take place on Wednesday 5th, Thursday 6th and Friday 7th June at the following times:
- 9.30am – 10.30am
- 11am – 12pm
- 1.30pm – 2.30pm
We are trialling these schools tours as part of Light the Blue and will only be able to offer to a small number of groups. Those interested should submit an Expression of Interest via https://forms.office.com/e/9zPQdiHqtq by Monday 6th May at 5pm.
After the deadline we will randomly select groups to attend a backstage tour, in the interest of fairness. It is our intention to be able to run more school-friendly tours beyond these trial dates. Schools tours will be offered for free, with the option to make a donation towards running costs.
