Murder Mystery and Musicals Afternoon Tea to be served up at The Terrace Bar & Cafe

The Terrace Bar & Café at His Majesty’s Theatre will be stealing the show later this month for a weekend of events celebrating food and theatre.

On the evening of Friday September 29, The Terrace presents Murder Mystery cabaret event Amateur Dramatics: from Stage to Scream!, while Saturday, September 30 and Sunday October 1 sees the return of the hugely popular Musicals Afternoon Teas, all in association with Right Here Productions.

Aberdeen Performing Arts Chief Executive, Sharon Burgess, said: “These events bring together two enduringly popular themes – theatre and food! Taking away the barrier between performers and audiences adds such a fun new dimension to these events, and we’re so excited to have the talented team from Right Here Productions providing top class entertainment.”

Right Here Productions’ Alison Telfer said: “I’m delighted to be working with Aberdeen Performing Arts again in such an iconic venue in the city. My performers are all so excited to be getting the chance to be part of these unique events. The Musicals Afternoon Teas were so well received in July and we’ve been working hard on a brand new setlist that really has something for every musical theatre fan! And His Majesty’s Theatre is the perfect backdrop for the Murder Mystery – guests might even get the chance to see parts of the theatre they’ve never seen before!”

From Stage to Scream offers a welcome drink followed by a three-course set dining experience in the beautiful surroundings of The Terrace Bar and Café, with the chance to test your detective skills in between courses. An amateur dramatics society hosts a cabaret evening but things soon turn sinister when their guest artiste is found dead. During the evening, the company will perform musical numbers as light entertainment but be prepared for things to turn dark! Utilising spaces around the theatre to set the scene, this truly unique event lets you see His Majesty’s Theatre in a whole new light.

The Musicals Afternoon Teas serve up a delicious selection of sandwiches, savoury treats and assorted cakes with a choice of teas and coffees as well as a signature cocktail or glass of Prosecco alongside a generous helping of entertainment, bringing a slice of the West End to the North East. Songs from beloved musicals will be sung live from talented local performers, making a welcome return after two sold out events in July.

Tickets are on sale now, and advance booking is recommended, available from www.aberdeenperformingarts.com, phone (01224) 641122 or visit the box office at His Majesty’s Theatre or the Music Hall.
