Charities invited to see Sleeping Beauty at His Majesty’s Theatre

Sleeping Beauty is set to fill His Majesty’s Theatre with glittering festive cheer this Christmas, and in the spirit of the season, 300 tickets are being given away to local community groups and charities.

Aberdeen Performing Arts and the show’s producers, Crossroads Pantomimes, are inviting groups to apply for free tickets to the Christmas pantomime, which runs at His Majesty’s from Saturday, 2 December to Sunday, January 7.

Charities and community groups can apply using the application form on the Aberdeen Performing Arts website for tickets to the 7pm performance on Tuesday, December 5. The deadline for applications is Friday, November 10.

Those who are successful are promised an enchanting and spectacular experience as Sleeping Beauty casts its spell over His Majesty’s Theatre this festive season.

Aberdeen Performing Arts Chief Executive, Sharon Burgess said: “I know that panto season at His Majesty’s Theatre is a magical time and I can’t wait for my first experience of it this year. We would like to share that excitement with as many people as possible so we are once again extending an offer of tickets for the show to charities for those who might not otherwise get to visit the theatre at Christmas.”

The announcement comes as Aberdeen Performing Arts announce their Joy of Christmas campaign, with giving, togetherness and bringing people together all key for the organisation which runs His Majesty’s Theatre, the Music Hall and the Lemon Tree in the run up to the big day.

Gary: Tank Commander will be entertaining the troops in the starring role, joining panto Dame extraordinaire Alan McHugh as Nurse Nellie Macduff, comic actor and River City Star Paul J Corrigan as Slimeball, Aberdeen’s own Danielle Jam who returns this year as The Spirit of Pantomime and actress and comedienne Julie Coombe as Carabosse.

The show is being staged by the same team that has produced the His Majesty’s Theatre panto for the last 19 years, with the usual abundance of comedy, lavish sets, fabulous costumes, and of course a few surprises in store.
