National Youth Orchestra Scotland – Spring Concert

Join the National Youth Orchestra of Scotland in a celebration of American innovation. Conducted by Catherine Larsen-Maguire, the spring concert includes Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue which pioneered a new form of orchestral jazz music. Bernstein’s West Side Story was an equally revolutionary force on Broadway and the Symphonic Dances, arranged from the musical by Bernstein himself, showcase the eclecticism and technical challenges of the score. Jennifer Higdon’s Concerto for Orchestra is a tour de force of orchestral colours, spotlighting every section of the orchestra with plenty of solo opportunities.
