Oliver!

Our Junior AYMT members are sure that “You Will Want More” once audiences have seen their production of “Oliver”.

Based on the novel “Oliver Twist” by Charles Dickens, this musical is set in Victorian London where Oliver, a well meaning young orphan, at supper one evening utters the immortal words “Please Sir, can I have some more”. This lands him in trouble with the workhouse Matron and the Beadle. As a result, he is sold to an undertaker but unhappy in his new surroundings, he runs away. He stumbles into the tricky hands of the Artful Dodger who takes him to Fagin and becomes one of the gang of pickpockets. However, whilst being shown how it’s done on a job, he is arrested but once it is discovered he is innocent, Mr Brownlow, the victim of the gang, takes Oliver in. Bill Sykes, co-thief of Fagan’s is afraid Oliver will give away their set-up and sends his girlfriend, Nancy to get Oliver back.

With a wonderful score consisting of some fantastic songs such as “As long as He Needs Me”, “Consider Yourself” and “Food, Glorious Food”, this has all the ingredients to entertain the family.
