Overview

Drag, Identity & the Art of Persona

Persona, identity and characterisation are fundamental to creating a great performance. How does your character walk and talk? What’s the intention behind what they do? Do they have something to hide?

Drag can be as fun, whimsical or colourful as the artist. It can let us share the parts of ourselves no-one gets to see, a chance to talk about things we would ordinarily be too afraid to, and a way to become who we wish we really were. This is what drag did for award-winning non binary artist Jordy Deelight, who uses their platform to create work about disability, mental health, gender and much more.

Join Jordy for an afternoon of writing, performing and becoming in a safe space. Jordy will introduce you to the fundamentals of drag including make up, hair, characterisation and performance. Whether you want to explore gender roles, RuPaul’s Drag Race style drag, or androgyny and cabaret, this workshop is for you!

Accessibility: the venue is wheelchair accessible via a side entrance on Shoe Lane.
